Fulfilling a life’s ambition
Brought up in a stonemason family, Matt Thebault has been a Stonemason in Jersey for over 33 years.
He founded Matthew Thebault Stonemasons nearly 20 years ago, with a drive to turn his clients dreams and ideas into reality with passion and stunning attention to detail.
One of his career ambitions was to one day have an opportunity to put all his skills and knowledge into his very own home. Finally, the opportunity presented itself and Matt was given the chance to work on his own granite cottage in the heart of St Peter.
Matt’s granite work is traditional but with modern features. The objective was for a stylish granite cottage, featuring a snug granite fireplace with log burner perfect for when the winter nights draw in.
There is a certain irresistible charm about a Jersey granite home and Matt would not settle for less, the granite had to be Jersey granite.
A Jersey Cottage
When a housebecomes a home…
One of the the biggest advantages to building your own home is how you can customise it with features that you love. Matt selected every single stone for his fireplace from all over the Island. He has a story for each and every piece which he has kept in stock for years.
Ensuring that his home blends well with the surroundings, exposed granite is a stand out feature of the cottage. Matt’s attention to detail is evident every where you look, including a beautiful marriage stone above the front door, which was a gift to his wife.
